A Thort

A clever French author by the name of Andre Gide once said "You don’t discover new lands without losing sight of the shore".   We are trying as best we can to push the boat out to discover ways of being better followers of Jesus and more effective in telling others about him.  We make mistakes – we will make more. Intimacy with God, community with each other, and kingdom agents in the world probably sums up what we are pursuing.

This service is aimed at young adults or those who enjoy participation and dialogue on a wide variety of big issues. It is our intention in these meetings to engage faith with life and different ways of worship.

We are currently meeting in the Churchyard Cafe.

OUR VALUES

'OUT THERE' BEFORE 'IN HERE'

Primarily, we are God’s people ‘out there’.  If we can’t engage God in our daily living then we’re not likely to do so on a Sunday. We do our best to help each other find our vision for serving Christ 'out there', then support each other in it.

KINGDOM BEFORE CHURCH

Jesus calls us to follow and assist him in his work of extending God's kingdom on earth.  That is our Christian adventure; working with christ in His restoring of a broken world. The church is simply the worshipping community of God's people doing that.  Church is not an end in itself.

COMMUNITY

Apart from in exceptional circumstances, we don’t believe you can follow Jesus on your own.  We need each other to support each other, to stay on task, to serve together – and have fun together.  We do our best in this and to welcome newcomers into our midst. Church in the home (small groups) is important to us.

PARTICIPATION

We grow as we take part in, and accept ownership of, our life together.  Whether in the home, or in our larger gatherings on a Sunday, participation, interaction, shared insights and personal stories are important aspects of who we are and what we do.
